10 Art Schools Nationwide Use Digital Badges to Certify Emerging Artists' Careers | Kolleges
Ten Korean art universities teamed up with Woohyunmun Gallery to issue blockchain-verifiable Kolleges digital badges, turning exhibition records into portable career credentials for emerging artists.
“I exhibited my work — but how do I document it in a portfolio?” Many artists wrestle with this question after taking part in an exhibition.
It goes beyond simply showing the work — how do you record your career and systematically prove it?
A new answer to that question recently emerged at an exhibition involving ten major Korean art schools, which adopted Kolleges Digital Badges.
📜 The Method 10 Major Korean Universities Chose: Digital Badges

The exhibition was a joint project between Woohyunmun Gallery and ten of Korea’s leading universities: Sejong University College of Arts, Sungshin Women’s University College of Fine Arts, Seoul National University Department of Oriental Painting, Kyung Hee University College of Fine Arts, Konkuk University College of Fine Arts, Korea National University of Education Department of Art Education, Incheon National University School of Plastic Arts, Sookmyung Women’s University Graduate School of Education, Gangneung-Wonju National University College of Fine Arts, and Chuncheon National University of Education Department of Art Education.
To systematically record the participating artists’ achievements, the Kolleges digital badge solution was adopted. The exhibition certification badges issued are verifiable anytime, anywhere on the blockchain. This created a new trust asset that transparently records artists’ work.
🥇 The First Career Stepping Stone Built Together by Universities and Artists

The digital badges introduced at this exhibition weren’t simply a tool for noting “participation.” They became a new way to convert artistic achievement into career assets.
In other words, exhibition records that used to exist only as paper certificates are now digital assets that can be verified anywhere, at any time.
For emerging artists in particular, these badges became a solid first stepping stone in their careers.
One emerging artist said:
Having my name officially recorded in an exhibition certification badge for the first time gave me real confidence. Since I can link it directly to my portfolio, I think I’ll be able to use it when applying to galleries or residencies in the future.
Participating faculty also gave high praise.
We’ve been exhibiting for many years, but we lacked a systematic way to document it. With digital badges, we now have a trustworthy record we can use in academic research and in the classroom — that means a lot.
🏆 The Portfolio, Completed by Digital Badges

The reason Kolleges digital badges drew so much attention is that artists can integrate them directly into their portfolios.
An exhibition organizer commented:
Digitally and securely certifying the achievements of an artist and the authenticity of their work is the path the art world must take. With Kolleges digital badges, we can officially record exhibition participation and authentication, which has been a great help to artists building portfolios with credibility.
In short, emerging artists can now move beyond simply “I participated” to proving their participation through credible means and reflecting it in their portfolios immediately.
🔒 Safe, Reliable Work Authentication

In this exhibition, work authentication certificates were also issued as digital badges. This drew attention for its practical benefit to collectors and institutions — managing both the authenticity of a piece and its exhibition history together.
A Woohyunmun Gallery representative added:
We hope this attempt to digitally and securely record artists’ achievements and the value of their work spreads across the cultural and art world. This exhibition confirmed that digital certification can serve as a real trust asset for both art education institutions and field artists.
